Service - Electrostatic Loudspeaker

This section provide a basic guide on dismantling the entire loudspeaker for servicing.

Removing the wooden top

• Facing the front of the loudspeaker, remove the wooden top from the loudspeaker by sliding it the right.

Removing the loudspeaker base

• Disconnect audio and AC supply volts.
• The base plate can be lifted out by unscrewing the twelve screws securing the base plate (Four screws are hidden in the legs).
• Discharge the high tension by short circuiting EHT point to earth.
• The sub chassis holding the Clamp/Detecor board, EHT board, AC supply transformer, input and AC connectors and fuse can be removed by undoing the four screws.
• Finally, the entire base of the loudspeaker can be lifted off by unsoldering the feed from both audio transformers (red and white wires) and the EHT supply (orange wire), unthreading the protection circuit antenna and unsecuring the eight nuts.

Removing the grille cloth

• With the wooden top removed, detach the grille cloth from the velcro hooks and pull the cloth down taking care not to ladder it.
• With the loudspeaker base removed, lift off the wooden base .
• Disengage the grille cloth from the velcro fixings at the bottom of the loudspeaker assemby and remove the grill cloth entirely.
