The History of QUAD
1916 - Peter James Walker was born in 1916, educated at Oundle, England and worked for EMI and GEC.
1936 - The company was founded by audio master Peter Walker, under the tiltle, the ‘Acoustical Manufacturing Company’ started to produce ‘Public Address’ systems and compact amplifiers.

S.P. Fidelity Sound Systems became
The Acoustical Manufacturing Company
later the same year.

with separate pre-amplifier and tuner.

Type C25 Amplifier.
1949 - The company produced the ‘Corner Ribbon Loudspeaker, launched the QA12/P and the brand ‘QUAD’ was born from an acronym ‘Quality Unit Amplified Domestic’.
